The article emphasises that as AI expands its role in education, all efforts must remain firmly human-centred and rights-based. It argues that AI deployments in learning environments should strengthen, rather than undermine, fundamental educational rights — including access, equity, cultural and linguistic diversity, individual agency and privacy. UNESCO

Key concerns raised include the risk of deepening existing inequities (for example through unequal connectivity, AI tool affordability, or bias in algorithmic design), as well as threats to learners’ autonomy, data security, and meaningful participation in education. The article urges governments, institutions and educational stakeholders to adopt frameworks ensuring that AI supports learners, complements teachers, preserves diversity of knowledge and prevents the erosion of human and social dimensions of learning.
