NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT

Generative AI is increasingly affecting our society.

The JRC's June 2025 report examines the impact of generative AI on Europe’s economy, society, and policy. While the EU leads in AI research, it lags in patent filings and investment. Generative AI is expected to enhance productivity across sectors like healthcare, education, and manufacturing, including personalised medicine, customised learning, and autonomous production management.

The report also notes labour market shifts, with high-skill professions affected and demand rising for critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and AI-related digital skills. It warns of risks such as bias in AI models and potential manipulation of vulnerable groups, emphasising the need for robust policies and ethical frameworks to ensure AI benefits are equitable and inclusive.
